What a great decision! Life in Mansfield features our quaint & historic downtown, our award-winning schools and our one-of-a-kind Pickle parade and Palooza! But did you know about our OUTSTANDING Parks & Recreation department?

The Mansfield Parks & Recreation department’s focus on fun, fitness, family time and fellowship has made them an entity the entire community can count on. In 2018, they won over 15 state and national awards, offered over 1,400 programs at the Mansfield Activities Center (MAC), served 6,157 senior lunches, and enrolled 7,213 players in youth rec sports.

What the parks have to offer…

In Summer 2019, Mansfield Parks & Rec will offer 14 camps ranging in interest areas like art, science, herpetology (reptiles & amphibians), sports camps, and week-long Kids Zone camps.

Lest you think Parks and Rec only targets kids, think again: the adult programs are many and varied, ranging from Pickleball tournaments to basketball and tennis leagues, fitness classes like Tae Kwon Do and Tai Chi, as well as free fitness boot camps, Zumba and Yoga. Duplicate Bridge is offered, as well as other card games like Canasta; arts & crafts classes appeal to all ages.

The over-55 crowd can enjoy senior trips & tours like the Arboretum and Texas Tulips. Fine Arts Continuing Education courses, Line Dancing and Smart Driving courses are just a few of the activities offered.

We could go on and on about all your choices, but you get the idea – there’s something for everyone!

I think you should also know that there are 23 parks & Facilities in Mansfield, which includes the Hawaiian Falls Water Park. Parks & Rec maintains over 900 acres of parkland, 100+ athletic fields, Walnut Creek Linear Trail and Elmer W. Oliver Nature Park. WOW!

Mansfield locals are all talking about “The LOT Downtown”.

The LOT Downtown is a  new place to come together and “enjoy life through the arts”. The LOT is a a non-profit outdoor venue in Historic Downtown Mansfield. It provides live music, theater and cinema to the community. In fact, LOT is an acronym for “Live Outdoor Theater”. It opened in 2016 as a joint effort of the City of Mansfield and the not-for-profit organization The LOT Downtown.

The majority of events are free to the public! Time to enjoy a picnic and sit with friends and family or partake in the food trucks available on site. Blankets or lawn chairs are welcome. You can find porta-potties available, PLUS free parking is ample around the venue. Glass containers are not allowed so be sure to bring the proper, safe containers for food or drinks. The lawn area can hold around 1,900 people, and the audience has plenty of space to spill out into all the areas outside of the main lawn.
